Real HD SW8-1-2G 8-port 2.5GbE 1-port 10GbE Fanless Switch Management

This is an unmanaged switch so we do not get a management interface to show. We also do not get that port isolation feature via a hardware switch that we have seen on a number of similar switches at this point.

Real HD SW8-01-2G 2.5GbE Switch Performance

In terms of performance, this switch seems like the others that we have tested at this point.

There is nothing special with the performance here.

Real HD SW8-1-2G Power Consumption and Noise

The switch comes with a 12V 2A power adapter. This is one of the higher-power supplies we have seen on switches in this class. Here is the label.

Idle power is 1.3W, which is in the normal range for a switch like this.

Plugging in a 2.5GbE port added around 0.7W to bring us to 2.0W.

Adding a 10Gbase-T to SFP+ adapter instead got us to 3.3W. That is decent for a dual Realtek 9-port switch.

Overall, the power consumption is in-line with what we might expect, although it is not necessarily class leading.

Final Words

Since we purchased this switch in August we have seen the pricing vary with various coupons and discounts. At under $60 it is generally a decent buy. Conversely, when it gets closer to $100 we would go with other options. Just over the past day before publishing this it went from $59 to 89. This is a no-frills model that does not have rubber feet, mounting hardware, or even a company name on it. That last one gives us pause.

Still, if you are looking for similar switches, this is one to keep an eye on if the price is right. If it is too expensive, then we would pass on it for another model. Likewise, if you needed other features or ports, then we have plenty of other models to look at.

Where to Buy

We purchased our unit on Amazon. Here is the affiliate link for this model.

  1. Looking forward to the update.
The MokerLink 8×2.5 Gigabit Managed 2x10G Ethernet Ports, 2x10G SFP+ Ports,1 Console Port, Web/CLI L3 Managed at 300$ could be a candidate for review and comes close to the Mikrotik.

  2. Did you test it with all ports running full speed to confirm the PSU delivers enough current and heat dissipation is sufficient for reliable extended operation in a warm room? That is the very most interesting thing to know.
