As we prepare the next mega cheap 2.5GbE round-up video (currently including 21 switches) we have another model to look at. The Real HD SW8-1-2G is a relatively inexpensive model that sometimes has great discounts. It also has something that we have not seen often before, a lack of branding.

If you just want a link to where to get the switch, you can find an Amazon affiliate link here.

The front of the switch has eight 2.5GbE ports and then a SFP+ port that is just labeled 10G and port 9.

Something completely missing is “Real HD”. That is the brand we found this under on Amazon, but it was not on the box, not in the manuals, and not on the switch itself. It feels like it is a brandless switch so it can be sold under many brands. Maybe the SW8-1-2G is the name to look for on this one.

On the side, there is a vent.

On the other side, there is a vent and a sticker to see if it has been opened. We, of course, tore the sticker while opening it up.

On the back, there is not much to see. We will note that there are no fans on this switch.

On the bottom, we get barcodes and specs, but we do not get a company name. We can also see two mounting points on this bottom surface.

Taking off the top is as easy as removing four screws.

This is another Realtek RTL8373-CG plus RTL8224-CG design with a very simplified internal design. The PCB is is closer to what we saw on the YuanLey YS25-0801.

  1. Looking forward to the update.
The MokerLink 8×2.5 Gigabit Managed 2x10G Ethernet Ports, 2x10G SFP+ Ports,1 Console Port, Web/CLI L3 Managed at 300$ could be a candidate for review and comes close to the Mikrotik.

  2. Did you test it with all ports running full speed to confirm the PSU delivers enough current and heat dissipation is sufficient for reliable extended operation in a warm room? That is the very most interesting thing to know.
