Tyan just released details on seven new Intel Xeon E5-2600 V3 Haswell-EP motherboards. The seven motherboard designs are based on three primary building blocks the Tyan S7070, S7076 and S7077. Each offers a unique set of features.

The Tyan S7070 is a general purpose workhorse motherboard. There are four different flavors, two of which come with onboard SAS. PCIe spacing is double slot wide so it is meant for having up to three Xeon Phi, Quadro or other PCIe accelerators.

The Tyan S7070 is a SSI EEB sized motherboard.

The Tyan S7076 has a single model, the S7076GM2NR which has its processors and memory lined up so warm air is not blown from one processor heatsink to the other. The S7076 is an E-ATX sized motherboard meant for rackmount chassis.

This is a very common setup for server motherboards. Expansion cards can be added via risers and the overall airflow design generally works well.

The Tyan S7077 comes in two rack optimized SKUs. The S7077 is a general purpose platform

Although a slightly different design, the Tyan S7077 does have some nice features. It is limited however to only 4 DIMMs per processor. This is not an issue for low memory applications but for higher memory applications this is not very many DIMM slots compared to how many the platform can handle.

Here are the motherbaords and barebones Tyan is releasing:

Motherboards: S7070 (S7070WGM2NR / S7070GM2NR/ S7070WA2NR / S7070A2NR-B)S7076 (S7076GM2NR) and S7077 (S7077GM2NR/ S7077AG2NR)

Barebones: GT62B-B7076 (B7076G62BV10H) and FT77C-B7079 (B7079F77CV10HR / B7079F77CV10HR-2T)
