Folks who follow STH or me on X (Twitter), LinkedIn, or YouTube may have already seen this, but this week was a big one for STH. We got the keys (finally) to our new studio in Scottsdale, AZ. The new studio space is designed to help streamline the production of our reviews and videos even more and help STH grow over the next 3 years. To many, this is not a big deal because they just want to see our content. To the STH team, this is a huge event, so it is getting a post.

There is a big crack that looks much worse in photos than it does live, so we need to work on that, but otherwise, the first day was just about getting keys and then utilities turned on.

Although normally I like to work from 5AM to 10PM, it was a bit challenging since our opening of the studio was interrupted by watching the Rangers with the World Series in Game 5. Since I had tickets, and we did not have electricity, it was time to put the project on hold for the afternoon.

It took a day and a half to get the electricity on and figure out the 3-phase power main breaker. This week we had a desk, two sets of metal shelves (on wheels!), and a few production odds and ends.

We are hoping this studio eventually houses three sets plus dedicated photography and b-roll areas, as well as storing all of the gear we need and review materials. Just the main studio part is around twice the size of the space that we had in Austin, TX. This is going to help a lot with growth.

There are other parts of the space. For example, we will have dedicated office space as well, although I am half thinking I might steal the corner office for myself., but that is TBD right now.

Over the next week or so, we should be getting the STH gear, and hopefully, this is the week that production starts again.

Final Words

Aside from moving, having the wedding, and so forth, one of the other challenges has been getting this space and moving STH. We have been homeless since mid-September, which is why if you saw videos like this week’s super cool data center tour that was toured in August, the main talking head was done in September, and it is just going live now.

The STH team has been fantastic and did around three and a half months’ of content and testing in about five weeks once we started moving in the late summer.

That also means that as folks on STH were a bit jarred by the move from the STH Blue Door studio in 2021 to Austin, STH will have a different and rapidly evolving look this year as we pick production back up in the new space.

Pardon the dust, but I just wanted to show what is going on behind the scenes at STH this month.

  1. Say more about AI and SSH in regards to types of projects. Are the projects just hardware or a combination of hardware and software? Also, say a little about project missions.

  2. Hi,
I wonder how your current workers see the move from austin to scottsdale. This is like 1000 miles. Why the big distance?
