KYY K1302R Monitor Performance
For our monitor testing, we use a Datacolor SpyderPro (Amazon Affiliate) to measure the monitors’ color performance. This is not the fanciest test equipment by any means, but we just wanted to get some general sense of performance. KYY rates the K1302R at 350 cd/m2 typical brightness and 1200:1 typical contrast. So it should be well beyond the ASUS ZenScreen MB169CK that we recently reviewed. Below is the measured color gamut.
This is certainly not the best, but is not bad for the price. It is just slightly below that of the ASUS monitor we just reviewed, but this is at a lower price point. Here are the color accuracy results:
Color accuracy was also on the budget side of the range. We measured a minimum Delta-E of 0.61, a maximum of 12.02, and an average of 3.68. That average is usable for general productivity, but it is not where we would want a monitor to be for color-sensitive work like editing photos or video. This is OK as a second monitor just to view a gallery of footage to pull in and grade, but the colors are not super accurate like on higher-end panels.
Power Consumption, Brightness, and Contrast
We have found that the monitors often do not scale power and brightness to match the settings. That is important because, as a portable monitor, it may be run off a battery, making power and brightness an important trade-off. Here is what we captured for monitor power on the Type-C power input at different brightness levels.
- 0% (34.1 nits) is 2.2W
- 25% (83.1 nits) is 2.8W
- 50% (134.2 nits) is 3.4W
- 75% (194.7 nits) is 4.3W
- 100% (255.0 nits) is 5.2W

As an aside, this monitor was significantly brighter than the ASUS we just reviewed and the power is roughly on par, so if you are more sensitive to how bright a monitor can get, then this may be a better option.
Here is the measured tone response.
Gamma measured 2.1 with 0.00 variance. That is fine for general office use, but the low maximum brightness is the bigger practical issue if this monitor is used in a bright room.
Final Words
It is strange for a monitor review, but this stand really stood out. Having the menu operated like this took some getting used to, but it worked. One other nice aspect is that, unlike having ports on the edge, having them on the stand gives different options for hiding them, which we appreciated. Perhaps doubly so after using the KYY X90G “Quad” Portable Monitor.
Overall, for under $75, this was a nice package and was probably a bit better than we had been expecting to get at this price point.
