NVIDIA RTX A4500 20GB GPU Market

The NVIDIA RTX A4500 is really interesting in terms of where it fits. Perhaps the most important aspect to remember is that the NVIDIA GPUs have drivers certified to work with a number of commercial applications. That is a big part of the overall appeal of these GPUs over their GeForce counterparts.

The other side is simply the ability to get the GPUs integrated into professional workstations. For example, here is a RTX A4500 in a Supermicro AS-5014A-TT, the company’s AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro workstation.

Other vendors offer and support these such as we see in this look at the Lenovo ThinkStation P620 Threadripper Pro Workstation with the card:

PNY loaned us the A4500 for review, and its business model is being a primary distributor of the cards for NVIDIA. If you purchase a bespoke workstation with an RTX A4500, there is a very good chance the GPU was sold via PNY.

Final Words

The NVIDIA RTX A4500 is a really interesting card. On one hand, if a user is using very expensive software that is tens of thousands of dollars and is GPU accelerated, it is hard to recommend this card over a A6000. The price differential is huge, but in a system TCO that jump is much smaller.

On the other hand, there are a number of companies out there that are looking for supported GPUs for applications including Adobe’s creative suite and more. Having a GPU that provides enough video memory, supported drivers, and in a supported workstation that also balances cost is also important. There are also features to the A4500 that cannot be ignored such as the ECC memory support since there are markets that require ECC memory.

Given that this is a solid-performing GPU of its era with less of a premium than the higher-end RTX A6000, we think that there is a fairly large market for this kind of GPU.

  1. So what’s the market for the RTX A5000? Realistically, and more importantly when it comes to price to performance, the A5500 makes more sense it’s got loads more CUDA cores and cost less than half an A6000 with 24GB of VRAM.
