Here is a crazy one. At OCP 2025, there was a rack labeled the Meta IcePack. This is a next-generation liquid-cooled networking rack that did not get a lot of attention. Something interesting is that this rack was using pluggable optics even as a high-performance/ AI networking rack. It was not using co-packaged optics. Still, we had some photos we thought we would share.
Meta IcePack Liquid-Cooled Networking Rack from OCP 2025
Meta showed off this next-generation rack at the show, but it was lit in blue with yellow single-mode fiber cables. That somewhat makes sense since Meta has been big on DR4 optics.

Fun is at the top of this is a blanking material that looks like cardboard but says “Material is recycled and flame retardant.”

Then we get what looks like 12x 64-port switches.

If you are trying to count to 64 pluggable optics, you are going to fail on many of these. It looks like these switches are alternating unpopulated columns of optics. At the same time, this is a show floor demo.

At the bottom we have what appear to be the management switches.

At this point you might be wondering what makes this rack different.

When we get to the rear, it starts to become apparent.

This is a liquid cooled rack.

Here is a quick look down the busbar.

Meta had a second IcePack label on the back of this rack.

Here is the bottom portion.

Even though Meta is saying this is a liquid cooling rack, and we can see the nozzles, we can also clearly see the fans.
Final Words
We just looked for, “Meta IcePack” and that is not giving us any results on Google right now which is strange since this was on the OCP Summit 2025 floor. It seems like being stationed next to the Meta AMD Helios MI450 rack did not help get this coverage.
The reason to build a liquid-cooled networking rack is to help increase the power density while also giving better cooling.

Horrid cabling for a showroom-special.
