Gigabyte GA-6PXSV1 Intel Xeon E5-2600/1600 motherboard (LGA2011)

Gigabyte has a very interesting single LGA 2011 motherboard out supporting the Intel Xeon E5-1600 and Xeon E5-2600 series CPUs.  Looking at the specs of this board, it looks to be aimed at workstation builds, with audio, and only a single GbE port. It can take a big video card and have enough PCIe lanes for a SAS controller as well, plus still a spare 4x PCIe and PCI slot. This looks to be a good general purpose motherboard for those that require a little of everything.

Still hoping to get pricing information and to see widespread availability, but this may be an interesting alternative for the Intel Xeon E5-1600 and Xeon E5-2600 series CPUs. The lack of multiple Gigabit LAN NICs onboard is a bit disappointing as this is an almost standard feature in this class of motherboard.

The Gigabyte GA-6PXSV1 does have a very edgy design and color pallet. You can see that the motherboard is oriented towards traditional desktop tower cases with exhaust vents above the CPU socket as the DIMM orientation and ATX power orientation is top-to-bottom not side-to-side. From a cooling perspective, the Gigabyte GA-6PXSV1 will be less efficient in a traditional server chassis and more efficient in a traditional pro-sumer chassis, much like the ASUS P9X79 WS.

  1. Looks like gigabyte isn’t selling these boards or something.

This is a review from June and currently I can’t find this board anywhere in North America.
