Next in our Ubiquiti switch series is the Ubiquiti UniFi USW-Pro-XG-10-PoE. This is an upgrade to the Ubiquiti UniFi USW-Pro-XG-8-PoE we reviewed, adding more ports, more PoE power budget, and a few more neat features. At the time of this review, this is a $699 device, a notable increase over the $499 lower-end model. As a note, we purchased this switch to review and you can find these on B&H Photo via an affiliate link here.

Ubiquiti UniFi USW-Pro-XG-10-PoE External Hardware Overview

Taking a look at the switch, the difference between this USW-Pro-XG-10-PoE and the USW-Pro-XG-8-PoE is like night and day. While the “8” was more of a desktop form factor, this is a 1U form factor switch.

Next, we get ten 10Gbase-T ports. These support Ubiquiti’s Etherlighting and PoE+++ modes, which provide 802.3bt Type 4 Class 8 power delivery. That means we get two more ports and better PoE capabilities versus the 8-port model.

Calling this a 10-port switch is a bit misleading, since it has two SFP+ 10Gbps ports, so it actually has 12 ports.

The port configuration also gives us a good idea of which switch chip we will see inside.

  1. Thanks for that, but you said you’d review the noise level: the fans mist have run up during your throughput testing, even if you were not hammering the PoE.
