AWS has announced a new set of instances with higher networking bandwidth. The new r5n / r5dn and m5n / m5dn instances offer up to 100Gbps networking which is their standout feature when you compare them to their standard instance counterparts, for example, the AWS R5 EC2 Instances. In the standard instances, one can get “up to 10Gbps” on the lower-end instances and up to 25Gbps on the higher-end instances. On the “n” variants, one starts at “Up to 25Gbps” and can get up to 100Gbps. As standard networking in enterprise data centers has moved to 25GbE/ 100GbE, AWS is following suit offering the same on its platforms.

  1. I’ll bet instances with 100 Gbps connection, 96 logical processors, and 768 GB of RAM are quite affordable…! :)
