BrosTrend S1-V2 Management
This switch does not have a management interface. Instead, you get a physical switch.

The switch had Standard mode, which lets it act as a dumb switch. Then there is a VLAN mode, which is a port isolation mode. Finally, there is a link aggregation mode that takes ports 7 and 8 and links them.
BrosTrend S1-V2 Performance
For this, we are using our standard iperf3 testing to align with other 2.5GbE switches we have tested.

The performance is very similar to the BrosTrend S3, so it seems that this is indeed a MaxLinear design.
BrosTrend S1-V2 Power Consumption and Noise
With the switch, we get a 1A 12V power supply.

We expect this switch to be relatively low power, but we wanted to test it like other 2.5GbE switches.

Plugging one port in, we got an incremental 1.0W of power. From a power perspective, this again seems like a MaxLinear switch.

Since this is a fanless switch, it is also silent.
Final Words
To us, there are maybe two reasons you buy this switch over theĀ BrosTrend S3, which is our 8-port 2.5GbE class top pick in our Ultimate Cheap Fanless 2.5GbE Switch Buyers Guide. The first is simply that you prefer a metal case over a plastic one. This certainly feels more premium. A second reason is perhaps if you like what the S3 offers, but want the port isolation or link aggregation feature. Is that worth roughly $20? We will let you decide.

Overall, this switch worked well for us, but we also want a version with 10G ports. Hopefully, that happens one day. As an 8-port 2.5GbE switch that sips power, this did a great job.

You all should take a look at the Zyxel XMG-105HP 2.5GbE PoE Switch. Compared to the other white label switches, it seemed very solid build quality wise.
