This video tutorial will show you how to install the Windows Home Server Connector Software without using the CD/DVD. As netbooks, usually without optical drives, flood the market, this is often the easiest way to install the connector software. For those using a motherboard such as the Supermicro X8SIL-F or Supermicro X8ST3-F, with remote ISO image mounting at the motherboard level through IPMI 2.0.Also, for those that have lost the disk, this is much easier than searching Microsoft’s site for the download as the connector software already sits on your network!
Again, please thank my colleague new to WHS for reminding me about this video.

Also placing them next to each other made it really easy to segment the two servers on a dedicated switch for doing the file transfer.

Old WHS Being dismantled on the left, new WHS doing burn-in on right, IBM power supply in middle.

After recommending WHS to a friend I got a note saying it was running really slow for pulling data off the server, even though writing data was fine. As this friend is not so technically apt, I decided to setup quick test machines, one running Vista 64 the other WHS. Both were using a Dell Perc 5/i raid card and two 500GB 7200rpm Western digital drives in raid 0 (I would never do this in practice, but these were solely built for test purposes.)
